Got down in the kitchen again today! So this is an all time favorite recipe o' mine, that I learned from skating friends back in the day. Their last name is Baker. Coincidence? I think not. Cause this fudgey bar snack is the bomb. And so were they...but they never really told me what in the hell it was called AND...these actually don't require any baking...so...Fudgey Bar Stuff! Let's get down to it... Here's what you need:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 squares baking chocolate
3 cups graham crackers
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
1tsp vanilla extract
It's an easy recipe guys, but I've run into a quirk or two along the way trying to simplify so...heed my advice (please 🙏).
Mix sugar, milk and chocolate in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes. Keep stirring the whole time. Next add graham crackers, butter, vanilla and peanut butter. Mix it well, then pour into a greased 8x8 or 9x9 pan. Allow to cool about an hour before cutting into squares and serving.
Crumble up your own graham crackers. Do it! If you buy the pre-crumbled Graham's, it ain't gonna be the same! It will still taste great but it will crumble like a dusty powder everytime you take a bite and that kind of sucks. So take the extra 10 min and mash up the Graham's yourself. This will allow for you to have larger pieces that soak up the liquids better and thus hold it all together. It will give you a more fudgey and solid consistency as opposed to "space food".
Side story: I was making this and my little sous chef Colby-Jack (the Pomeranian) was standing under my feet hoping I would drop chocolate that could kill him if he ingested it but...whatever! Anyway, he's under my feet like a total dingaling, and I'm chopping up the chocolate blocks (which isn't the easiest, you'll see)...and I finally cut the piece, it flies up in the air, gravity hits and it goes down, down, down, upon a shining little Pom face and pops him right in the eye. I've never seen anything like it...right in his tiny little eye socket. Which he then wouldn't open for about 30 minutes (poms are dramatic). Thought I was going to have to take him to the animal hospital...he's fine though. 😋Let me know how yours turns out!
